We All Think We Have Time… Until the Stories Are Gone

Preserving Family History, One Story at a Time

By Ladi Miz | From Da Ground Up Productions

We all think we have time.

Time to ask our parents about their childhood. Time to sit with our grandparents and hear their histories. Time to learn where our family came from and what our elders experienced before we were even born.

We keep saying, "I'll ask them one day."

But what happens when that day never comes?

The stories disappear. The memories fade. And suddenly, we're left wishing we had asked more questions.

Our elders are living history books, and once they're gone, some chapters can never be recovered.

Why This Matters to Me

As a storyteller and owner of From Da Ground Up Productions, I believe everyone has a story worth preserving.

This Thanksgiving, I'm taking the time to interview my own family members, especially our elders, to capture their memories, life lessons, and family history on video.

My goal is for us to sit together, watch their stories, laugh, learn, and appreciate the people who helped shape our family.

And while preparing for this project, I realized something: Every family deserves the opportunity to preserve its legacy.

Introducing My Family History Interview Kit

That's why I created the Family History Interview Kit, now available in my Etsy shop!

This printable digital kit includes:

* 48 meaningful question cards across 8 chapters of life

* Answer pages to preserve family memories

* A family tree page

* An interview planner and keepsake page

* 6 beautiful cover options

You don't need expensive equipment or professional experience. Just sit down with someone you love, ask the questions, and take the time to listen.

Don't Wait Until It's Too Late

Too often, we attend funerals and hear stories about loved ones that we never knew while they were alive.

Why wait until someone is gone to discover who they really were?

Imagine your children and grandchildren being able to read the stories, hear the voices, and understand the sacrifices of the generations before them.

That's not just family history. That's a legacy.

My Family History Interview Kit is available for a special launch price of $10 (regularly $12.99) through November 7, 2026.

I'm also expanding our family legacy documentary services through From Da Ground Up Productions to help families preserve these priceless memories on film.

We all think we have time. But the best time to preserve a story is while there's still someone here to tell it.
